Rare Small Antique Mani Singing Bowl – C#6 Concert Pitch
SOLD
Rare Antique Mani Singing Bowl. C#6 Note (Root Chakra)
Weight 12 oz (341g). 11 ½ x 5 ½ cm (approx. 4 ½ x 2 ¼ inches)
This is a really excellent little antique Mani Singing Bowl. It’s one of the prettiest and smallest we’ve seen and it has all its original incised decoration completely intact and in great condition.
Furthermore it is very responsive and unusually easy to play for this type of bowl. The fundamental note is a sixth octave C with a good beat, and it is also virtually concert pitch (very uncommon for this type of bowl). As with most Mani bowls the struck and played notes are the same.
Antique Mani or Charma bowls are typically between 200 and 400 years old and now very rare. This is an excellent example of their type with its flat bottom, bulbous belly, inward-facing lip and decorative banding. The condition of this bowl is very good.
If you like Mani bowls you will love this one!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede striker/ringer are included in the price.
