Antique Mani or Charma bowls are typically between 200 and 400 years old and now very rare…and this is a small and rather nice example of their type with its flat bottom, bulbous belly, inward-facing lip and decorative banding.  In fact it has a prettier profile than most as its body turns out a little towards the rim.

 

This little bowl has a high sixth octave C singing voice with a good beat.  As with most Mani bowls the struck and played notes are the same.

 

The condition of this bowl is very good.  It is structurally sound and virtually free of stains and blemishes.  It has a matt golden bronze colour with some patina.

 

A double-ended teak and suede striker/ringer is included in the price.
