Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Note: Eb5 (Solar Plexus Chakra)
Weight 453 grams (1 lb 0 oz). Size 12 x6 cm (4 ¾ x 2 ¼ inches)
This is a rare small antique Lingam Singing Bowl circa 1800 in excellent structural condition. It has exceptionally thick walls, a lingam at its centre surrounded by circles, and a matching yoni or navel underneath. It has a sheered and grooved lip and a decorative band of tiny cuts encircling the outer rim. There is faint evidence that a band of ritual gashes once encircled the outer wall, and have been worn down over the years.
The fundamental note is a fifth octave Eb5 (618-624Hz) that is quite close to concert pitch when struck with a mallet or played around the rim with a ringer.
A rare and characterful small antique Lingam Singing Bowl with extra thick hand-beaten walls that would have been hard to craft!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
