Rare Superior Quality Antique Manipuri Lingam Singing Bowl – B3 & F5
SOLD
Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: B3 & F5 (Crown & Heart Chakras)
Weight 871 grams (1 lb 14 ¾ oz). Size 19.5 x 6.5 cm (7 ¾ x 2 ½ inches)
This is a superior quality Antique Lingam Singing Bowl with the shallow Manipuri form. It has thick hammered walls, a superb grooved lip, and multiple decorative bands around the outer rim. There’s a very nice lingam at its centre surrounded by two sets of circles, and a deep navel or yoni underneath. It’s quite heavy for its size.
The fundamental note is a third octave B (245Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave F (701Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This rare antique Lingam bowl is structurally sound and free of stains, and has a subtle aged patina. Antique Lingam Singing Bowls are extremely rare, and those with the Manipuri form even more so.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
