This is an exceptionally large and heavy bell-shaped Thadobati Singing Bowl is of a type rarely seen these days (circa 18th Century) with very thick, smooth, and slightly splayed walls and a sloping grooved lip.
This old bowl sings a truly beautiful and pulsating low third octave G# and has a fantastic sustain. The note is the same G#3 when played around the rim with a ringer…simply lovely…and with a little water inside it will produce very good fountains!
This singing bowl has seen a lot of use over the years but it is in excellent and clean condition for its age. There are several small decorative circles at its centre, surrounded by some fainter large ones. It has an attractive and bright antique gold colour and the characteristic look and feel of great age. As with other bowls of this type it feels smooth and sensual in the hand and is a pleasure to hold and play.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a large teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
