Antique Tibetan Singing & Talking Bowl. C Note (Root Chakra)
Weight 1 lb 13 oz (823g). 17.5 x 8.5 cm (approx. 6 ¾ x 3 ¼ inches)
This bell-shaped Thadobati Singing Bowl is of a type rarely seen these days (circa 18th Century) with very thick, smooth, and slightly splayed walls and a sloping lip. This bowl has seen a lot of use over the years as there is no longer any trace of the simple decorative banding around its rim or the circles at its centre, and there is some light staining inside the basin. However, this old bowl is otherwise in excellent and clean condition, and has the look and feel of antiquity. As with other bowls of this type it feels smooth and sensual in the hand and is a pleasure to hold and play.
The fundamental note is a superb mid octave C when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer, and with a little water inside this bowl becomes a noisy talker!
