Rare Tiny 4” Antique Shaman Singing Bowl – B4 with 2 Long Inscriptions!

This is an extremely rare singing bowl of a type sometimes associated with shamanic medicinal preparations and rituals, although the diminutive size of this one suggests another purpose.  What is clear, however, is that this tiny bowl was held in very high esteem by at least two former keepers.

The fundamental note is a middle (4th) octave B (498Hz) when struck or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a sixth octave E (1352Hz) if a wooden ringer is used.  Unlike some small bowls this one is relatively easy to play as its flat bottom inhibits rotation in the palm of the hand.

Tiny singing bowls such as this are rare enough, and to find one with an inscription is extraordinary.  This tiny bowl has TWO!  One of them, the larger, almost encircles two thirds of the bowl, while the other more recent one diagonally completes the circle.  Both are finely dot punched. 

This antique bowl is in excellent structural condition and is basically clean, but with the patina of antiquity.  There is a small stain on the inside wall that could possibly be removed if desired.

This extraordinary tiny 4 inch antique shaman bowl with its two rare inscriptions is simply unique and therefore very collectable.
