Recently Sourced Rare Tibetan Lingam in ‘As Found’ Condition.

Probably one of the very few antique Lingam Singing Bowls to come out of Tibet in recent years.  It is one of a handful of bowls recently sourced on our behalf, and is in ‘as found’ condition…dirty and grubby, but otherwise in an excellent state of preservation.  It could certainly be cleaned if required, but not by us.

The fundamental note is a good fifth octave G.

I believe this bowl to date from the 17^th or possibly the 18^th century.  It is extremely heavy for its size, with very thick walls and a wide grooved triangulated lip.  It has a superb small but prominent lingam at its center surrounded by several circles, and a neat small navel underneath on its flat bottom.  A pair of decorative incised lines encircles the bowl below the outer rim, with a single line lower down.

A very rare and special bowl with the unmistakable look and feel of great antiquity.
