Sequential Set of 7 Large Antique 3rd Octave Lingam Singing Bowls – Unique Opportunity

This is an extremely rare opportunity, perhaps once in a lifetime, to acquire a sequential set of 7 large antique 3rd octave Lingam Singing and Healing Bowls.

Antique Lingam Singing Bowls have distinctive physical and sonic qualities, and are used in sacred and ritual ceremonies.  They are so rare that most singing bowl collectors and practitioners will never have encountered or handled a single bowl, so one can only imagine how special this sequential set of seven is.

These large lingam bowls have diameters between 6 ¾ and 7 ¾ inches and have been personally matched as far as possible by age (19th Century), condition, shape, octave and pitch.  They are all very substantial bowls with lingams at their centre and a matching navel or yoni underneath.  They have been tuned to the fundamental note when hand-held, and at rest on a cushion, then struck with a padded mallet.   Two of the bowls (A3 and Bb3) are virtually perfect pitch, while another (F#3) has ritual gashes below the outer rim.

All are in excellent structural condition and basically unblemished, but with some being cleaner or having a more aged patina than others.  Each bowl is supplied with a Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and ringer.  A padded striker is also included.

Bowl 5. A3 note (221Hz), 6 ¾ inches, 928 grams, concert pitch

Bowl 6. Bb3 note (233Hz), 7 ¼ inches, 1.12 kilos, concert pitch

Bowl 7. B3 note (254Hz), 7 inches, 939 grams

NOTE: A complete chromatic or Chakra set consists of 7 notes (C,D,E,F,G,A,B) or 12 if you include the sharps and flats (Eb,F#,G#,Bb).  If a 12-piece set is desired, it might be possible to match and add the missing C3, C#3, D3 and Eb3 separately as and when they become available.
