Small Manipuri Singing Bowl
SOLD
Manipuri Singing Bowl. B & E Notes (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 9 ¾ oz (276g). 14.5 x 4.5 cm (approx. 5 ¾ x 1 ¾ inches)
This is a small Manipuri singing bowl with a low third octave B flat fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer, while a wooden ringer changes the rim note to a fifth octave E flat.
This is an old thin-walled bowl with a smooth, polished, golden interior, and a clean but slightly lumpy exterior with lots of surface interest. In the centre of the bowl there is a fairly worn decorative circle of mala beads or sun motifs (punched dots within circles). The same motif also decorates the edge of the lip. A small double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
