Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes: E2 & A4 (Solar Plexus & Third Eye Chakras)
Weight: 773 grams (1 lb 15 oz). Size: 21.5 x 9.5 cm (8 ½ x 3 ¾ inches)
This small Antique Jambati Singing Bowl has the thinnest walls in my entire collection, makeing it exceptionally light for its size and therefore comfortable for hand-held playing for a long time. Its fine walls account for its low second octave and its ability to produce fountains.
This old bowl’s wall has been worn ultra-thin and smooth through very long use, and virtually all its decorative features have vanished save for a hint of the circle at its centre and a band encircling the outer rim. However, it remains structurally strong and clean, with a smattering of copper oxidization inside.
This is a multi-harmonic bowl. The fundamental note is a low second octave E2 (80Hz) when struck with a padded mallet, and a third octave A3 (225Hz) when played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a middle octave A4 (428Hz) when played with a wooden ringer, and sometimes a fifth octave F5 (679Hz). It is capable of producing vibrant fountains of energized water when played with water inside.
A complementary Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a teak and suede ringer are included.
