Spectacular Huge Jambati Singing & Fountain Bowl

SOLD

Huge 18th – 19th Century Antique Jambati Singing Bowl.  B & F Notes (Crown & Heart Chakras)
Weight 8 lb 9 ½ oz (3.9 kilos).   34 ½ x 17 cm (approx. 13 ½ x 6 ¾ inches)

Probably the most spectacular singing bowl we have come across…it’s certainly the largest antique Jambati bowl, and with an astonishingly beautiful voice to match!  This bowl was recently sourced for us in the Himalayas and is a really rare find.  Antique bowls of this immense size and quality seldom turn up, especially in such superb condition.  I cannot speak more highly of this bowl…it’s a collectors dream!

This bowl has everything…a great physical presence and an utterly wonderful sound…a very low second octave B flat (Crown Chakra) with multiple harmonics including a second octave A.  The fundamental B note is a stunning OM sound when played around the rim with a heavy suede-wrapped ringer, and a middle F when using a hard wooden one.  This bowl is also capable of producing great fountains if rung with a little water inside.

Spectacular Jambati Singing Bowl

This handsome Jambati is in excellent condition.  It has a beautiful deep body and boldly inscribed decorative bands forming a collar just below the outer rim, a strong level and grooved lip, and a series of concentric circles on the inside floor.  The walls have attractive hammer marks both inside and out, and a matt silvery-gold bronze colour.  A large bowl cushion (sufficient to fill the basin) and a heavy teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

I love this bowl…and if it doesn’t quickly find a home in your collection…I’m adding it to mine!
