Stunning 12½ inch Jambati Singing Bowl – F#2 and 2 Inscriptions

SOLD

Antique Tibetan Jambati Singing Bowl.  F#2 Note (Heart Chakra)
Weight 6 lb 9 oz (2.98 Kilos).  31.5 x 16 cm (12 ½ x 6 ¼ inches)

This is a without doubt one of the most beautiful antique singing bowls one is ever likely to come across…it is simply stunning!  Everything about this bowl is impressive…its form, its size, its weight, its condition, and of course its sound!

This full-bodied 18th – 19th century Jambati has a diameter of 12 ½ inches and weighs a fraction under 3 kilos.  Great attention has been paid to every part of the forging process…resulting in a bowl of the finest quality.  Its walls are of an even thickness, the triangulated lip is generous, and the mottled leopard-spot hammer work is superb.  The contrasting surface finish, from mottled brown to a smooth golden bronze, is a real feature of this bowl.  The inside of this bowl is a lovely golden colour.  There are two large decorative circles at its centre and a pair of incised lines forming a band or collar below the outer rim.

This bowl is very responsive and easy to play.  It sings a beautiful and low 2nd octave F# whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  This bowl has a strong pulse and a powerful D4 harmonic which can be isolated with a little practice and played as the fundamental.  It will also readily produce great fountains if played around the rim with a little water inside.

This bowl benefits from two inscriptions set within the band below the outer rim…a clear sign that it was highly prized by at least one of its former keepers.

The condition of this remarkable Jambati is exceptional…clean and blemish free.  Huge antique bowls of this size and quality are very rare indeed, and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Simply a fabulous bowl!

The price includes a Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a teak and suede ringer.
