Superb 19th Century 10 ½” Jambati Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch G3 & D5

Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes: G3 & D5 (Throat & Sacral Chakras)

Weight 1.56 kilos (3 lb 6 oz).  Size 16 x 10 cm (10 ½ x 4 inches)

This is a nice quality early 19^th century Jambati Singing Bowl with a low perfect pitch third octave G3 (197Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a concert pitch fifth octave D5 (588Hz) harmonic with a wooden ringer. 

This bowl is thicker and heavier than normal for its size.  It has a smooth and gently curved wall, a triangulated (once grooved) lip, and decorative bands around the outer rim. The circles at its centre have been partially worn away through long use and ritual cleaning.

It is in good structural condition, clean and stain-free, nice to the touch and a pleasure to play.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
