Large Tibetan Jambati Singing Bowl. E Note (Solar Plexus Chakra)
Weight 5 lb 2 ¼ oz (2.33 Kilos). 28 x 14 cm (approx. 11 x 5 ½ inches)
This is a very large top quality antique Jambati singing bowl in an excellent state of preservation and with barely a mark or blemish to show its age. Its condition is likely to be a reflection of the high regard placed upon it by its previous Himalayan keepers, as this bowl has a wonderful voice and great musicality.
The fundamental note is a beautiful low third octave E Flat with a long, long and pulsating sustain after striking with a heavy padded mallet (supplied). The rim note is the same superb Eb3, and with a little water inside, this bowl will produce great fountains.
This deep-bodied singing bowl has a myriad of attractive small forged hammer marks covering its golden exterior surface. It has a slightly inward-sloping triangular lip and a boldly incised decorative collar to the outer rim. There are several concentric circles at its centre. It has a clean golden colour inside and out.
Listen: (2 struck notes and 2 played notes)
