This is a superb example of this antique bowl form.  Unlike some Mani bowls this one is extremely responsive and easy to play.  The struck and rim notes are the same excellent fifth octave C# (563Hz) with a strong beat.

 

 

It has typical features found in all Mani bowls…but worn a little smooth from centuries of handling and use…a grooved lip, banding below the rim and circles at the centre.

 

Antique Mani bowls are generally thought to be between 200 and 400 years old and are now very rare.  This particular bowl has a wonderful aged patina and the look and feel of great antiquity. 

 

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
