Superb large 10 ½” Jambati Singing & Fountain Bowl with Low B2 Voice (127/7Hz)

This is a superb and heavy flat-bottomed antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a low second octave B fundamental (126/7Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a middle F# if a wooden ringer is used.  The low vibrant energy of this bowl will produce excellent fountains if it is played with a little water inside.

This antique bowl is quite heavy for its size.  It has a grooved lip, circles at its centre, and incised bands forming a decorative collar below the outer rim, all of which are typical of this bowl form.  Not so typical is its flat bottom.

This bowl is very clean and its structural condition is excellent.  It has attractive hammer markings inside and out, and a nice golden bronze colour.  A padded striker, a Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are all included in the price.
