Antique Jambati Singing and Fountain Bowl. Eb3 Note (Solar Plexus Chakra)
Weight 4 lb 1 oz (1.84 Kilos). 27 x 13 cm (approx. 10 ¾ x 5 ¼ inches)
This is a large fine quality antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a beautiful full-bodied form and a stunning third octave Eb fundamental note. The note is the same whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. This bowl will also produce splashy fountains if played with a little water inside.
This old bowl is extremely well forged, with thick regular walls, a strong triangulated lip, and a finely decorated incised collar, and faint circles inside the basin.
It has very nice hammer markings with the patina of age, and a lovely golden colour on the inside. There is a small and aged surface crack on the bottom that may have been there when the bowl was forged. It does not penetrate to the inside and has no impact on the quality of sound, which is among the best in our collection. This old bowl is in an excellent state of preservation with barely a mark or blemish inside or out.
A Tibetan brocade bowl cushion and a heavy teak and suede ringer featured in the photograph are included in the price.
Listen: (2 struck notes and 1 played note)
Note: As this is an unusually heavy bowl there will be a surcharge to cover the additional cost of shipping and insurance to destinations outside the UK. Overseas buyers will later be invoiced at cost for any shipping and insurance shortfall (estimated to be between $60 and $100 to USA and Canada).
