Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Eb4 (306-309Hz) Solar Plexus Chakra
Weight 2 lb 11 ¼ oz. (1.23 kilos). Size 20 x 9.5 cm (approx. 7 ¾ x 3 ¾ inches)
This is a large, heavy, and characterful antique Lingam Singing Bowl with a nice mounded lingam at its centre, surrounded by faint concentric circles. Indeed, whatever decorative features this 18th or 19th century bowl may once have possessed have all but disappeared with use over the passage of time. Underneath there is a neat and symmetrical navel.
The most striking physical feature of this bowl is its glorious colour…a deep and slightly matt mustard antique gold of such an intensity and depth that one can easily imagine it having a high gold content, although I doubt this is the case.
The bowl also has a very beautiful voice. The fundamental struck note is a middle Eb (306Hz) when struck or played with a ringer.
This antique Lingam is structurally sound and very clean, with just a small surface scratch inside and a couple of inclusions (grains of dust in the molten metal during forging).
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
Altogether a fabulous bowl!
Listen: (2 struck notes and 1 played note)
