Superb Rare Small Antique Lingam Singing Bowl
SOLD
Antique Singing Bowl. Notes: Bb4 & E6 (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight: 442 grams (0 lb 15 ½ oz). Size: 13 x 6.5 cm (5 ¼ x 2 ½ inches)
This is a rare small 18th Century Lingam Singing Bowl. It has a gently curved wall, a fairly rounded bottom, and a sheered lip with faint evidence of a single band of tiny decorative cuts encircling the outer rim. There is a neat Lingam surrounded and defined by two sets of circles at it centre, and a matching navel or yoni underneath.
The fundamental note is a nice middle octave Bb4 (462Hz) when struck with a padded mallet and 464Hz when played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to close to perfect pitch sixth octave E6 (1322Hz) with a wooden ringer. It is very responsive and easy to play.
It is a very pretty bowl in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free, with an attractive patches of red copper bloom inside, and a rich antique golden bronze colour.
A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
