Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. G#3 (Throat Chakra)
Weight 3 lb 1 ¾ oz. (1.4 kilos). 22.5 x 9.5 cm (approx. 8 ¾ x 3 ¾ inches)
This is a large and rare superior quality antique Lingam Singing Bowl (circa 18th century) with a superb third octave G# voice that is virtually perfect concert pitch. The note is the same whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. It has an extremely long sustain, and is responsive and easy to play.
The condition of this bowl is very good, with barely a mark or blemish inside or out. It has a slightly low profile and a smooth and gently curved wall. It has a level grooved lip and a simple incised band below the outer rim.
A particular feature of this bowl is its large prominent central lingam surrounded by a pair of boldly incised concentric circles. On the bottom, directly below the lingam, there is a superb deep navel.
A fabulous old bowl with a stunning concert pitch voice!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
