Superior Antique Jambati Singing Bowl – Perfect Concert Pitch

SOLD

Large Antique Jambati Singing Bowl.  C#3 Note (Root Chakra)
Weight 4 lb 7 ¾ oz (2.04 Kilos).   29.5 x 14.5 cm (approx. 11 ¾ x 5 ¾ inches)

This is a large superior quality 19th century antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a perfect concert pitch (+/- 3 cents) fundamental…a fabulous pulsating third octave C#.  The note is the same whether stuck or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  This bowl will also produce nice fountains if played with a little water inside.

Although this is a large bowl it’s finely forged walls make it about 20% lighter than average for this size so it is a little easier to hold when hand-held and played around the rim.  It also has a slightly lower profile than usual which makes it appear extra wide.  It has an attractive full-bodied shape; a wide triangulated inward facing lip and a pair of well defined concentric circles at its centre.  There are also several incised lines forming a band or collar below the outer rim.  It also has attractive small hammer marks worn smooth with use and the passage of time.

The condition of this bowl is excellent for its age, and it has a lovely golden bronze colour.  However, it is the beauty and purity of the struck fundamental that really sets it apart!

A fabulous old bowl with a lovely voice!

A Tibetan brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker and a teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
