This is a large superior quality antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with an excellent concert pitch third octave E fundamental (165Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a middle Bb (477Hz) with a wooden ringer. Unusually for a Thadobati bowl it will also produce vibrant fountains when played with a little water inside.

This nicely proportioned flat-bottomed high-wall bowl has been well crafted and has thick even walls with a plain sheered lip, and circles at its centre.  A single decorative line encircles the outer wall about an inch below the rim, with the smooth finish above contrasting with the hammered area below.  It is exceptionally large and heavy for a Thadobati bowl.

It is structurally sound, clean and stain-free, with an attractive rich golden bronze colour.  A very fine example of this bowl form!
