Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes: A2 & E4 (Third Eye & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 2 lb 9 ½ oz. (1.18 kilos). Size 23 x 10 cm (9 x 4 inches)
This is a superior quality medium-size antique Jambati Singing Bowl with an excellent rare low and close to perfect pitch second octave A (111Hz) fundamental, and a powerful middle E (325Hz) harmonic. The rim note is the same A2 when played with a suede ringer, but gradually builds to a middle E if desired, depending upon the pressure and speed applied to the ringer. Both the struck and played notes play sweetly together and have long sustains. This particular bowl has lots of vibrant energy and will produce fountains if played with a little water inside and, surprisingly, even has some talking ability.
This 19thcentury singing bowl has an exceptionally fine hammered wall that makes it relatively light for its size, and therefore comfortable to hold and play for an extended period. The wall is now smooth. It has a plain sheered lip and there are faint circles at its centre, any other decoration having been worn away with use over time.
This lovely bowl is in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free, with a nice golden bronze colour.
A padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
