Weight 1.18 kilos (2 lb 9 ¾ oz). Size 22.5 x 11.5 cm (8 ¾ x 4 ½ inches)
This is a superior quality full-bodied antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a superb third octave F fundamental (178Hz) with a long sustain when struck or played around the rim. Unusually for a bowl of this size, it also benefits from an old dot-punched inscription; a fair indication of the high esteem in which this bowl was held by a former keeper.
This well-crafted antique bowl has smooth finely hammered walls, a triangulated lip, circles at its centre (now faint), and decorative bands encircling the rim. It is in excellent structural condition; clean and stain-free inside and out.
A fabulous example of this lovely bowl form!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker and a ringer are included in the price.
Listen: (3 struck notes and 2 played notes, suede then wood ringer)
