Superior Quality Antique Pedestal Singing Bowl – Inscription with Peacocks
SOLD
Antique Pedestal Singing Bowl. Notes: C4 & E5 (Root & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight: 971 grams (2 lb 2 oz). Size: 17 x 11 cm (6 ¾ x 4 ¼ inches)
This superior quality antique Pedestal Singing Bowl is in exceptional condition for its age; structurally perfect, clean and free of blemishes.
Its shape is typical of this interesting bowl type with multiple decorative bands encircling the outer rim and a faint finely grooved lip. Unusually, there is a small circle (or eye) in the centre of the bowl.
It has an excellent middle octave C4 (257Hz) fundamental when struck or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave E5 (667Hz) with a wooden ringer. It is a very responsive bowl and easy to play.
This bowl benefits from an old and very nice dot-punched inscription set between a pair of large inward-facing peacocks with long tails. Inscriptions are a sign of the high esteem in which a bowl was held by a former keeper, and always add interest and value.
A fabulous example of an antique chalice or pedestal bowl!
A complementary double-ended teak and suede ringer is included.
