Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: G4 & C#6 (Throat & Root Chakras)
Weight: 494 grams (1 lb 1 oz). Size: 13.5 x 7 cm ( 5 ¼ x 2 ¾ inches)
This is a rare superior quality small 19th century Lingam Singing Bowl. It is well-crafted and nicely proportioned, with a grooved lip and a decorative collar of tiny cuts encircling the outer rim. There is a neat lingam surrounded by circles at its centre, and a matching navel or yoni underneath.
It benefits from a small and well-defined engraved inscription on the outer wall, which is believed to be a female name in Hindi.
The fundamental note is a nice middle octave G4 (399Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a high sixth octave C#6 (1120Hz) with a wooden ringer. It’s a responsive bowl and easy to play.
This small antique Lingam bowl is structurally perfect, clean and stain-free, and has a golden bronze colour.
A ringer is included in the price.
