Superior Small Antique Tibetan Thadobati Singing Bowl – C#5 Note
SOLD
Antique Tibetan Thadobati Singing Bowl. C#5 (Root Chakras)
Weight 1 lb 0 ½ oz. (467g). 11 x 5 cm (approx. 4 ¾ x 2 ¼ inches)
This is a small superior quality antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with a very nice fifth octave C# fundamental when struck or played around the rim. This bowl is loud, loud, LOUD!
The superior quality of this little bowl is immediately apparent. Its walls are almost twice as thick as normal for this type of bowl, and it’s much heavier than one might expect for its size. And the extra thickness has left sufficient room for the lip to be attractively grooved…a very rare feature on a small bowl. There are several concentric circles at its centre, and some nicely incised decorative bands below the rim and around the outer wall.
This is a flat-bottomed bowl that sits steadily on the palm of the hand and is a delight to play. It is in excellent structural condition, and has a very attractive antique bronze colour.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
