Weight 1 lb ¼ oz (461g).   11 x 7 cm (approx. 4 ¼ x 2 ¾ inches)

 

This is a small antique Naga Singing and Healing Bowl of exceptional quality.  It is solidly constructed and heavy for its size, with walls that are far thicker than usual for this type of bowl.  It has nicely incised decorative banding below the outer rim and is in excellent structural condition.   It also benefits from an excellent two-line inscription set between a pair of lotuses…a sure sign that this bowl has been highly regarded by one of its previous keepers.

 

The struck and played notes are the same, a spectacular and penetrating sixth octave Bb (the latter with a long sustain).  It’s hard to believe that a small bowl can have such and incredibly powerful voice!

 

A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
