This superlative rare golden Antique Lingam Singing Bowl is one of the last of its kind, and I doubt you will ever see another like it outside of this website and my personal collection. It is one of a number of similar wonderful bowls that I acquired from the private collection of a Tibetan antique bowl dealer in Nepal, and I have only come across one other in over 30 years of collecting bowls at source. They almost certainly come from the same master bowl-maker.
This bowl is believed to date from the 18th century and is exceptional both physically and sonically. It has a gloriously pure and pulsating forth octave C to C# voice (268-270Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.
It has been beautifully forged. It has a gracefully curved form that subtly flairs towards the rim, a wide flat lip, a prominent pointed central Lingam, and an attractive deep navel underneath.
This bowl has wonderfully silky-smooth walls and the most beautiful antique golden bronze colour. It is in excellent structural condition and free of stains and blemishes. It comes with a Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a striker and a ringer.
A rare and beautiful antique lingam singing bowl!
