This superlative rare golden Antique Lingam Singing Bowl is one of the last of its kind, and I doubt you will ever see another like it outside of this website and my personal collection.  It is one of a number of similar wonderful bowls that I acquired from the private collection of a Tibetan antique bowl dealer in Nepal, and I have only come across one other in over 30 years of collecting bowls at source.

This bowl is believed to date from the 18th century and is exceptional both physically and musically.  It has a gloriously pure concert pitch third octave Bb voice (233Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played with a suede ringer.  When a wooden ringer is used the rim note changes to a lovely fifth octave F (682Hz).

It has been beautifully forged.  It has a gracefully curved form, a wide flat lip, a prominent central Lingam with an attractive navel underneath.  There is a single incised line encircling the bowl’s inner wall close to the rim, and a decorative band forming a simple collar just below the outer rim.  There is also evidence of a circle surrounding the navel but this has been partly worn away along with any circles that might once have surrounded the lingam.

This bowl has wonderfully silky-smooth walls and the most beautiful antique golden bronze colour with just a touch of surface patina from long use.  It is in excellent structural condition and free of stains and blemishes.  It comes with a Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a striker and a ringer.

In my opinion, if you love antique lingams and can afford it, this is a must buy bowl!

PS.  I have listed a number of similar golden lingam bowls on the website, and there are a few more in a limited range of notes that I might part with.
