Antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  Note: F#3 (Heart  Chakra)

Weight 1.6 kilos (3 lb 8 oz).  Size 23 x 10 cm (9 ¾ x 4¼inches)

This is a particularly rare and lovely antique GOLDEN LINGAM BOWL with a large lingam surrounded by circles at its centre and a deep yoni or navel underneath.  It is a superior quality bowl, beautifully forged, with sensually smooth golden walls inside and out.  It has a plain lip with a single decorative line encircling the inner and outer rims.   It is a very large bowl for a Lingam.

This lovely bowl has an excellent third octave F#3 fundamental (187Hz) that is quite close to perfect pitch when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.   It’s a very responsive bowl and easy to play, and both the struck and played notes are especially nice.

This lingam is notable for its size, superior quality and excellent voice…and its very unusual and attractive rich golden bronze colour.  It is in excellent structural condition and free of stains and blemishes.

Large superior quality Lingams such as this are impossible to find nowadays.

A fabulous antique Lingam that would grace any collection!

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker and a ringer are all included in the price.

Listen: (4 struck notes and 1 played note with suede ringer)

Footnote:  This is only the third time I have come across this type of superior golden lingam in 40 years of collecting.  I believe they all originate from the same family forge, in India or Nepal, before finding their way to a Himalayan antiques dealer.  I acquired several similar bowls with this one and will be listing them shortly, unless sold privately.
