Thadobati Singing & Talking Bowl – Great Looks, Wonderful Sound!
SOLD
Antique Tibetan Thadobati Singing and Talking Bowl. C & G Notes (Root & Throat Chakras)
Weight 2 lb 5 ¼ oz (1.06 kilos). 19 ½ x 9 ½ cm (approx. 7 ½ x 3 ¾ inches)
A good quality antique Tibetan Singing and Talking Bowl (18th – 19th century) with extra thick high-sided walls, a strong lip, and a wonderful sound. It’s also very responsive and easy to play. The fundamental note is a strong mid octave C whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave G if a wooden ringer is used. This bowl also has a nice talking voice if struck or played with a little water inside.
This is a handsome Thadobati singing bowl – clean, free of stains and blemishes, with a lovely bright golden colour. It has two fine punched dot bands forming a collar just below the outer rim, and several well-worn decorative circles on the inside floor. A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
Simply a lovely bowl with a beautiful voice!
