Tibetan Jambati Singing Bowl – Great Sound and 2 Inscriptions!
SOLD
Antique Tibetan Jambati Singing Bowl. F Note (Heart Chakra)
Weight 3 lb 1 ¾ oz (1.41 kilos). 25.5 x 14cm (approx. 10 x 5 ½ inches)
This is a superb large and distinctive antique Jambati singing bowl in excellent condition. It’s not too heavy for its size and can be comfortably held and played in the hand. It has a lovely shape, a wide level inward-facing lip, clean even walls and a bold decorative collar bordering the outer rim. This bowl has two inscriptions, something very rarely seen. One sits neatly within the parallel lines of the collar, and the other low down on the belly of the bowl. Both are hand-engraved rather than dot-punched. This must have been a very special and treasured bowl to one or more of its previous owners.
This bowl sings beautifully. It has lovely sonorous and low third octave F note whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede mallet. A brocade bowl cushion and a large teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
A wonderful bowl that would be a joy for anyone to own and play!
