Tibetan Jambati Singing Bowl – Very Large G2 and Inscription

SOLD

Antique Tibetan Jambati Singing Bowl.  G & E Notes (Throat & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 4 lb 6 oz (1.98 kilos).   30 x 14cm (approx. 11 ¾ x 5 ¾ inches)

This is a fantastic large antique Jambati singing bowl in virtually perfect condition.  At nearly 2 kilos this is undoubtedly a heavy bowl BUT it’s very light for it’s exceptional size…making it a very attractive bowl for those who like to hold their large Jambati whilst playing the rim note.   This is also a very handsome bowl with beautiful hammer markings both inside and out.  It also benefits from a large hand-cut inscription below the outer rim (inscriptions are quite rare and are more typically dot punched).  This lovely singing bowl has been treasured.

This bowl has an excellent singing voice too – a really low second octave G sharp.  The fundamental struck note and the played rim note (with a suede ringer) are the same low G but if a wooden ringer is used the rim note becomes a fifth octave E flat.  A brocade bowl cushion and a large teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

An exceptionally large top quality bowl in excellent condition!

Listen (1 struck note followed by 3 played notes – suede ringer with bowl on cushion, suede ringer with bowl held, and then with wooden ringer.  Please note that recording of the stuck note has picked up on the higher E flat overtone…but it is actually the very low G that one hears in reality.  Please accept my apologies for the lack of recording skill).
