SOLD
Antique Tibetan Manipuri Singing Bowl. G Note (Throat Chakra)
Weight 1 lb 8 ¼ oz (689g). 21 x 7 cm (approx. 8 ¼ x 2 ¾ inches)
This is a large antique Manipuri singing bowl with an excellent fundamental mid octave G sharp note whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede-wrapped or plain wooden ringer. This bowl is very responsive and easy to play. It has a pretty voice with multiple subtle overtones including a third octave C sharp.
This old bowl is in good clean condition for its age, with a lovely golden colour. It has a low profile, a flat bottom and gently sloping smooth walls with a little decorative banding just below the outer rim, and a large but faint circle inscribed on the inside floor. A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
