Tibetan Thadobati Singing & Fountain Bowl – Concert Pit
SOLD
Antique Tibetan Singing & Fountain Bowl. E Note (Solar Plexus Chakra)
Weight 1 lb 15¼ oz (889g). 16.5 x 8.5 cm (approx. 6 ½ x 3 ½ inches)
This is a beautifully-forged antique Tibetan singing bowl with a wonderful and powerful voice. It’s quite heavy for its size and has very thick walls and the typical high-sided Thadobati form, but perhaps a little deeper than usual. There is a very nice grooved lip, and two simple dot-punched bands forming a collar just below the external rim. The concentric circles on the inside floor have been worn smooth over the years. This is a handsome top-quality bowl in very good condition for its age.
This bowl is very responsive and easy to play. It has an excellent singing voice…a wonderful and powerful, almost concert pitch, mid octave E. The note is the same whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim. With a little water inside this bowl will also produce great fountains!
A brocade bowl cushion and a double-sided teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
