This tiny antique Naga singing and healing bowl has a very uncommon hipped shape.  It is one of two very similar bowls from the same Nepalese source, so there is therefore a distinct possibility that they originated from the same forge.  This one is fractionally larger than the other.

 

This may be a tiny bowl but it was undoubtedly highly prized by a former keeper, as it carries an long inscription, set within a pair of incised bands, that encircles one third of its circumference.

 

The fundamental note is a powerful and penetrating sixth octave A…an uncommon note.

 

This bowl is in superb condition inside and out, and has an unusual matt antique bronze colour.

 

A rather special little bowl!
