A superb quality tiny antique Manipuri Singing bowl with a fifth octave D concert pitch voice (586Hz).  This bowl is beautifully forged and has an excellent and well-defined grooved lip, a pair of circles at its centre, and multiple decorative incised bands all around the outer rim.  The interior of this bowl is smooth, as is the upper part of the external wall, and this contrasts nicely with the hammer markings below the incised collar. This bowl has a golden bronze colour and is in excellent condition.

 

This bowl also benefits from a nice engraved inscription…something of a rarity on small bowls, and an indication of the high regard in which this Manipuri bowl was held by a former keeper.
