Antique Singing Bowl – B3/C4 (Crown/Root Chakras)
Weight 1.44 kilos (3 lb 2 ¾ oz): Size 19 x 8.5 cm (7 ½ x 3 ¼ inches)
This one-of-a kind antique singing bowl is supplied in its ‘as ‘found’ condition with all its beautiful aged patina intact. I love its rich chocolate bronze colour, and cleaning it would be to destroy much of its surface interest and the look and feel of long service and antiquity.
The fundamental note is exactly on the cusp between a third octave B3 and a forth octave C4 (253Hz-254Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim. The rim note changes to a high fifth octave F5 (714Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This antique bowl is heavy for its size, with fine walls that thicken towards its unusually rounded bottom. It has a level grooved lip and decorative incised lines encircling the rim inside and out. It feature a slightly raised area surrounded by well-defined circles at its centre, matched by a slight depression underneath. The bottom of this bowl, very unusually, features a decorative pair of circles.
The structural condition of this unique and beautiful antique bowl is excellent.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
