This fabulous rare antique bronze bell-shaped singing bowl comes from Tibet and must surely rank among the most beautiful. It’s certainly in my top five in terms of uniqueness, looks, and sound!

This is a large and heavy bowl. Unusually, it was cast like a bell, not forged, and has itself a bell-like form. Its graceful wall and lip are exceptionally fine, and it has a well-defined flat disc-like bottom. Decoration is limited to a single incised line just below the inner rim, with another underneath around its base. The colour of this bowl is simply gorgeous…a combination of antique gold bronze and red copper…the outside being shiny and the inside matt. The structural condition is excellent.

The fundamental struck note is a lovely low pulsating second octave B (120Hz). The note is the same with a suede ringer but readily moves to a middle E (324Hz) with a suede or wooden ringer if desired.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a ringer are all included in the price.
