This small fascinating singing and talking bowl is believed to date from the 18^th century.  It has a very unusual form with its flat bottom and straight-sided wall that is only slightly wider at the top than the bottom.  It has decorative circles at the centre and around the inner perimeter.  A pair of incised lines also encircle the bowl just below its inside rim.  Of particular interest are the series of ritual digs (small cuts) that go around both the inner and outer walls just below the rim.

This is a very responsive bowl that is easy to play.  The fundamental note is an excellent and rare A4 note (434Hz) whether struck or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a high sixth octave D (1157Hz) if a wooden ringer is employed.  This bowl also has a good talking voice if struck or played with a little water inside.

This bowl is in excellent structural condition.  It has bags of character and the patina of old age.  A ringer is included in the price.
