This is a very unusual globular-shaped antique singing bowl with a simple splayed lip.  Its form gives rise to a very particular quality of sound, especially when struck with a padded mallet.

It’s very responsive bowl that can be played around the rim in the normal way, when it will produce a mid octave G# that’s close to concert pitch…but it comes into its own when struck!  A heavy strike with a padded mallet or drumstick results in a resounding and perfect Concert Pitch C#4.  This bowl also has quite a good talking voice if struck and rocked with a little water inside.

A fascinating and unusual singing and talking bowl in excellent condition!  We also have a very similar bowl with a Concert Pitch B3.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
