Unusual Antique Singing Bowl. F3 (Heart Chakra)
Weight 1 lb 12 oz. (789g). 16.5 x 9 cm (approx. 6 ½ x 3 ½ inches)
This unusual antique Tibetan singing bowl has a flat bottom and high-sided walls that flair slightly towards the rim. The outside wall is divided into three well-defined areas, each separated by several incised bands. The top two of these are smooth and golden, while the lower section retains forged hammer markings and is darker. There are multiple concentric circles on the inside floor, and some incised banding high up forming a decorative collar to the inside wall. The condition of this old bowl is very good.
This bowl is responsive and easy to play. The fundamental note is a good third octave F which is sometimes accompanied by a very subtle low Bb. On other occasions a powerful Bb4 comes to the fore. Other harmonics may also be present. A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
