Unusual Antique Singing & Talking Bowl – B Note
SOLD
Unusual Antique Singing & Talking Bowl. Bb4 (Crown Chakra)
Weight 1 lb 7 ½ oz. (666g). 17 x 10.5 cm (approx. 6 ¾ x 4 ¼ inches)
This unusual antique Tibetan singing and talking bowl has a flat bottom and an almost spherical body. It has a nicely grooved inward-facing lip with a hint of decorative banding just below the rim. This rare form of bowl is sometimes known as a Buddha bowl. Its condition is very good indeed.
This bowl is easy to play, especially with a hard wooden ringer. The fundamental note is a good mid octave Bb, and the note is the same whether stuck with a padded mallet or played around the rim.
With water inside this antique bowl has a very good talking voice when rocked back and forth when playing around the rim, or after striking. You will need to experiment a little with the amount of water and where and how the bowl is struck.
A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
