Unusual Antique Singing Bowl. G4 Note (Throat Chakra)

This extraordinary antique singing bowl has an unusual ball-like form and an interesting voice that is very close to concert pitch…a mid octave G. The note is the same whether stuck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede or wooden ringer. The bowl sits very comfortably in the palm of the hand and is very responsive and easy to play.
It is in excellent structural condition, but there is a certain amount of surface patina to the outside which to some extent masks the interesting sun motif embellishments around the rim and down the side of the wall. These include a necklace of sun symbols (or perhaps mala beads) set within incised lines, and a downward facing pattern below. This type of decoration is quite rare and is generally found on older bowls. It has a good grooved inward-facing lip, and there are a series of concentric circles radiating out from the centre of the bowl.
A double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
A very interesting older bowl with a good voice!
