Antique Naga Singing & Healing Bowl. C# Note (Root Chakra)
Weight 2 lb 8 ¾ oz (1.16 Kilos). 18 x 12.5 cm (approx. 7 x 5 inches)
This is an unusually large and heavy antique Naga Singing and Healing Bowl with a powerful mid octave C# voice that registers as perfect concert pitch with precision striking with a padded mallet or drumstick.
This involves gripping the bowl by its pedestal in one hand and striking it with a padded mallet with the other. One needs to strike at the midpoint of its bulbous belly with just the right amount of force (fairly hard). It only takes a little practice to achieve the desired pitch, and one is well rewarded by the power and pitch of the note and its long sustain. The rim note is also the same powerful C#4 but it’s a little harder to bring it to perfect pitch…pressure and transit speed being the key. The rim note changes to F#5 if a wooden ringer is used.
This handsome old bowl is in excellent structural condition. It is solidly constructed, and has classic Naga proportions and typical decorative banding below the outer rim, and a small circle at its centre. It is one of the largest Naga bowls in our collection.
A large teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
Listen: (3 struck notes and 2 played notes)
