Very Rare & Collectable Tiny Antique Button Lingam Singing Bowl – My Smallest

This is an extremely rare antique Button Lingam Singing Bowl…so-called because of its round button-shaped lingam at the centre, with a matching depression underneath where the navel or yoni would be in a regular lingam bowl.  And with a diameter of just 4 ½ inches and weighing 6 ounces it is also the smallest and lightest bowl in my entire collection.

The fundamental note is a bright high sixth octave C6 (1024Hz) when struck, and a middle octave F4 (358Hz) when played around the rim with a wooden ringer.  It fits snugly in the palm of the hand or balances on the fingertips for playing.  It’s a responsive bowl and, unlike many tiny bowls, it doesn’t spin while playing.

This tiny lingam has been well used and its surface has been worn smooth with the passage of time.  It is in good structural condition, save for a fine hairline crack of no consequences in the lower wall.  It is clean and free of stains and blemishes with a rich golden bronze colour.
