Antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  Notes: F#3 & C#5 (Heart & Root Chakras)
Weight 1.4 kilos (3 lb 1 ¼ oz).   Size 23 x 10.5 cm (9 x 4 inches)

This rare antique lingam bowl is so large that it could easily be mistaken for a Jambati if viewed from the side.  And indeed it shares some of the same physical characteristics of that larger bowl form such as its weight and the decorative bands encircling the outer rim. But the inside and underneath are unmistakably Lingam.

It has a sheared and faintly grooved rim, and at its centre is a superb pointed lingam surrounded and defined by a pair of circles, with a second pair some distance away.  The large lingam is matched underneath by a deep navel or yoni.  It is quite a heavy bowl with a relatively thick hammered wall and a flat bottom.

It is undoubtedly one of the largest lingam Singing Bowls I have encountered in over 30 years of collecting.  Furthermore it has not one but two perfect pitch voices!  The fundamental note is a perfect pitch third octave F#3 (185Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a perfect pitch fifth octave C#5 (555Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This fabulous rare Lingam Singing Bowl is in superb structural condition, clean and stain-free, with attractive hammer markings and an aged appearance.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
