This old bowl has a really unusual and beautiful globular form with a hipped shoulder and a well defined slightly splayed rim.  It has a fine lip, a golden interior with concentric circles, and lots of contrasting surface interest on the outer wall…from smooth to textured.

 

This 19th century bowl benefits from two inscriptions, a large one and a tiny one, on the smooth band below the rim.

 

This lovely bowl has an interesting and characterful voice too…a very nice third octave B.  The struck note and the played notes are the same.  A teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
